and later, she's there. A shabby, rangy bird in a noisy cage, peering suspiciously around only long enough for her gaze to lock onto the person she's here to meet: she pins him with it, demanding accountability. Here we are.]

She pins him with it. Still takes a minute: Eyes locked and ready for death across a conversation that’s already gone on too long, and just keeps going, a sandy-haired man describing the legs on these Antivan girls –

"Porter," He finally cuts in, over the top of a sentence. Buddy looks miffed for the interruption, "This is Miss von Skraedder."

If Porter looks miffed, it's nothing compared to the stare that faces him upon his introduction to 'Miss' von Skraedder, who corrects the address with a curt "Warden," without looking at Cedric.

She falls silent again, stonefaced. Go on then, tell her more about the Antivan girls' legs,

[dissolving]

Teren stares. Porter stares. Opens his mouth, ready to continue –

"Why don't y'grab a round? On me." Cedric suggests. The other man snorts, slouches off, and Cedric shoves out a chair. "Don't reckon he ever got off the boat."

Teren follows Porter with her gaze until it makes sense to shift it over to Cedric, at whom she stares for a long, contemplative moment before slithering into the offered chair.

"How do you know him," she asks, flatly curious.

[dissolving]

"Worked the repair crews we brought in," After the attacks. "Came and warned us for Amsel."

Alienage took her in, and only so many reasons Reginald Porter, human man would have known that.

"He's – he works hard. Tries hard."

Yeah, maybe that's a bit sympathetic.

Whatever her thoughts on that revelation, Teren keeps them to herself as she surveys the room, briefly pausing every so often to let her gaze land appraisingly back on Cedric. She's waiting, no doubt, to hear the real reason they're here: or if not anything suspicious, at least there must be something he wanted to talk about.
